The Awosiga family of Mowe in Ogun State are grieving and mourning the predicament that befell their family recently
The members of Awosiga family are mourning the untimely death of their 20 year old son, Adeleke Awosiga who was hacked down by members of a deadly cult group at the Berger Isheri are of Lagos State.
The deceased, Adeleke Awosiga was allegedly killed at a birthday party organized by his friend one, Anu Olokodana, popularly known as T-Fire. Anu died following a disagreement that ensued between Adeleke and Anu, the celebrant at the party.
Sources claimed the deceased and his assailant were childhood friends but at being at loggerheads over Anu’s invitation that Awosiga joins his cult group which the deceased was said to have vehemently decline.
Penultimate Saturday, the celebrant had invited his friends including the deceased to a hotel in Isheri where they party all night long celebrating his birthday.
Trouble allegedly started in the wee hours of Sunday around 4.30 am when the deceased asked for a dance with the celebrant’s girlfriend, one Rashida Musco Oponmija who then was dancing with another boy. Rashida was said to have declined the dance offer from Awosiga telling him ‘are we mate?’ Annoyed the deceased was said to have replied her that he was older than her.
An argument later ensued and one Iyanu Liasu was alleged to have slapped the deceased and a fight started. The deceased and Liasu were pushed outside the hall so that the fight will not escalate, some of their friends followed them to settle the rift after which they all went back into the hall.
In an attempt to cool off, the deceased was said to have gone to the hotel swimming pool where he met his untimely death alongside some of his friends who left the dancing hall. When the party was over the deceased came out of the swimming pool and asked one Damola to go and bring his clothes where they were kept. When Damola returned Adeleke, was nowhere to be found.
Another source said the celebrant met the deceased at the swimming pool and challenged him over the earlier disagreement between the deceased and his girlfriend. The celebrant’s friends including one simply identified as Favour, who belong to the same cult group then pounced on the deceased and held him “Anu then twisted his neck, he died and was pushed into the swimming pool”.
As soon as it was noticed that Awosiga is dead, they all deserted the hotel but for a few friends of the deceased who immediately rushed the deceased to a nearby hospital with the help of policemen who were on patrol. The deceased was confirmed dead at the hospital. His remain was later deposited at the General Hospital Yaba mortuary where it was deposited for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the suspect, Olokodana and his girlfriend, Rashida are said to be on the run and efforts by the police and neighbours to trace them has proved abortive.
Two suspects have already been arrested in connection with the death of Awosiga. The suspects who were on a spy mission had gone to the Awosiga’s family compound where youths had gathered. They were seen trying to gather information on the family’s plan on the incident.
“Since they were not familiar faces we challenged them and requested to know their mission but they were unable to explain.
“ We apprehended them and took them to the Mowe, police station where they revealed that they belong to the same cult group with Olokodana and they were sent by him to find out what the family of the deceased were planning” our source said.
The suspects had since been transferred to the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) Panti for a discreet investigation.
The head of Awosiga family, Evangelist Adeyemi Awosiga of the Celestial Church of Christ Mowe 3 condemned the act and called for justice.
“It is wrong for anyone to terminate another person’s life just like that. The family is grieving, all we want is justice. The suspect must be made to face the wrath of the law,” he stated.
Mrs Ololade Awosiga, made a special appeal to the Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode and the Commissioner of Police Cornelius Aderanti to intervene and use this incident as a special case to ensure that justice prevails as it will serve as a deterrent to other youths in the state and stem the wave of cultism among youths.
Meanwhile, the suspected cult gang has in a show of supremacy and in solidarity to their wanted leader has subjected residents of Cele, Ibedu and its environs to intermittent attacks.
The terror group numbering about 30 masked and armed with weapons had stormed the area at about 8pm penultimate Monday where they ransacked shops, residence and robbed people of their belongings.
The suspects were conveyed to the area in three buses where the robbed residents of their valuables ranging from money, mobile telephones and others valuables while those who resisted or had nothing to offer them were severely injured.
There have been an incessant cult killings in Lagos lately especially around Bariga, Mushin and other areas in Lagos. Many youth’s lives have been cut short by these cult clashes.
